January 2013 Favorites

Hey everyone! Wow, 2013 came and now January is over. I know that I didn't post up my December 2012 favorites but I did post up a 2012 Favorites so I thought that that could account for December. Most of the products are pretty much the same anyways. For January, I wanted to use start using up some products that I already had (so I could finish them up) and use some of my "new" products as well. There isn't that many products this month but that could be because I kept using the same ones in a routine.

LIPS:
ELF STUDIO Lip Exfoliator
This exfoliator smells so yummy! I could just smell this all day. I have always wanted to try out a lip exfoliator but didn't want to spend too much money on one and since this one was only $3 or $1.50 during their 50% sales, I decided to buy it. I am so glad that I bought two of these. I use this whenever my lips start to peel, which is a couple times a month because of the dry weather and horrible lip balms that give my lips bad reactions. After using this, my lips are always so soft. I will definitely be buying more once my two are gone.

FACE:
MAYBELLINE Dream Smooth Mousse "Classic Ivory"
This one is a bit light on me but its not noticeable with bronzer on. I really like the coverage that this gives me and since I have been breaking out a bit (because of all the chocolates that I've been snacking on, uh oh!) this foundation has really been good at covering the majority, if not all, of my pimples.
LAURA GELLER Balance-N-Brighten Foundation "Medium"
I love this powder foundation. I have been using it a lot as a finishing powder to set my liquid foundations. I would sometimes use this to set my Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse as well. I don't know what it is about this but it keeps my foundation on all day. You can also use this alone as your foundation but I find that it doesn't give me the coverage that I need, especially with my pimples and blemishes.

EYES:
NYX The Runway Collection "Caviar & Bubbles"
This is my first NYX palette and so far, I am really liking it. There is some fallout but then again, a lot of brands have fallout. The compact is small and nice to bring with me, if I ever decide to bring it with me on travels. I really like using this to create shimmery eye looks.
MAYBELLINE Color Tattoo "100 Barely Beige"
Let me just say that I love this! Its so creamy and the formulation is way better than my "Bad to the Bronze" one. I don't know why but that one is way drier and harder to apply onto my eyes. Please let me know if you have both and if the "Bad to the Bronze" one is supposed to be on the drier side. I love using "Barely Beige" all over my lid as a base for my shadows. Its just such a pretty shade.
LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer
I got this with my LORAC Pro palette and so far, I am really loving it. I like how the packaging is like a lip gloss. Hopefully you can see what I mean in my picture. You can apply it directly onto your lids or just apply onto your finger. Its really creamy and keeps my shadow on all day.

BLUSH:
PHILOSOPHY The Color of Grace Art Of Blushing "Pink Dreams"
I remember the first time that I tried this, I didn't like it at all. It wasn't as pink as I would have liked and thats because it also has a highlighter surrounding the blush. I have been using it a lot this month and I have really been loving it. I love mixing everything together because it just gives my cheeks the perfect pink glow. I actually wish I had bought a backup of this when I had the chance.

So those are all my January 2012 favorites! I have really been liking these products. If you would like to know more about any of these products, definitely let me know. I know that this months favorite isn't much but I really wanted to finish up some of my products and try out some new ones.

QUESTIONS:
Have you tried any of these products?

BzzCampaign: Schick Hydro Silk Razor

Hey everyone! I just wanted to do a real quick post to show you guys a preview of what I got from BzzAgent to review. In case, you didn't know already, I am a BzzAgent and sometimes I do get free products to test out and review. I don't get paid to talk about these products. All opinions are my honest opinions. Sorry, I just wanted to get that out there, just in case and for any new members. I actually just got this in the mail yesterday and I am so excited to test it out. Granted it isn't makeup but hey, us girls do need razors and I have been on the search to find the perfect razor for my legs. I thought that this would be the perfect time to test out the Schick Hydro Silk razor. This razor has been out in stores since last January so it isn't a new product but it did win the 2012 Best Razor award in the Cosmo Beauty Awards as well as the 2012 Best Hair Remover from Fitness Magazine.

My package came with a razor kit that included two razor cartridges, one handle, and one shower hanger to hold your razor in the shower when its not in use. This razor kit retails for $9.49 but prices vary by stores. I haven't given this razor a try yet but I can't wait. Good thing that my old razor is about to retire because I can't wait to bust this baby out in the shower. LOL It also came with a couple of coupons that I plan on giving away to my sister and some friends. Hopefully they will use up the coupons and not let them go to waste because $5 off is such a high-value coupon, in my opinion.

Stay tuned for a review on this razor soon. I was thinking of maybe including a before and after picture of my legs using this razor but I figured that showing you my hairy legs might be a bit TMI. LOL What do you guys think?

QUESTIONS:
Have you tried out the Schick Hydro Silk Razor?
Do you like Schick razors?
What brand of razors are you using?

Tarte Carried Away 2012 Collection

Hey everyone! I just wanted to show you guys a more closer inside look into the Tarte Carried Away 2012 Collection that I received for Christmas. If you didn't know already, this is a limited edition set and is out of stock online. You might be lucky to find one at your local Sephora
store but thats a rare possibility. If you do find one, good luck to you!! This set costs $54 and was a Sephora exclusive.

This set comes with so many products that I could definitely see myself traveling with this little gem. It includes:

  • 24 Eyeshadows (full size)
  • 8 Lipglosses (deluxe size)
  • 1 Amazonian Clay Blush "Adventurous" (deluxe size)
  • 1 Finishing Powder (deluxe size)
  • 1 Face Brush (full size)
  • 1 Lights, Camera, Lashes! Mascara (deluxe size)

All the eyeshadows that come with this set are so pretty. The eyeshadow palette is hidden away in a case behind the mirror, which I thought was really cute. I love the design on the palette. Its so cute. They are the regular full size Tarte eyeshadows, which are 0.06 oz each. I really like how these eyeshadows are somewhat grouped into quads. It makes it easier for a makeup beginner to wear eyeshadows.

You can create neutral eye looks to smokey eye looks with this palette. The only thing that I wish Tarte did with this palette was have the actual names of the shadows onto the palette itself instead of having it on the clear protective plastic. I want to throw away the plastic sheet so bad but if I do, it would be frustrating not knowing the names of the shadows. The 24 shadows that come with this set are:

  • Snowfall in Paris
  • Golden Gate Bridge,
  • Volcanic Ash
  • Pyramid Gold)
  • Pearl River
  • Seychelles Sand
  • Touchdown in Londontown
  • Martha's Vineyard
  • Pebble Beach
  • Boston Brick
  • Spanish Sangria
  • Napa Grapes
  • Georgia Peach
  • Tuscan Sun
  • Acai Jungle
  • Coral Reef
  • Iceland Air
  • Mystic Seaport
  • Concrete Jungle
  • Hampton Waves
  • Sunshine State
  • Hawaiian Palm
  • Olive Grove
  • Sin City

Next thing that comes with this set that comes in many different shades are the lipglosses. There are eight lipglosses that are included in this set and they are all mini size. These lipglosses are pretty much on the sheer side, which is alright for me. I tend to wear lipglosses over lipsticks anyways. The shades of the lipglosses are:

  • Jena
  • Mer
  • Ali
  • Nuria
  • Health
  • Casey
  • Anna
  • Mel

So those are all the products included in this set. The only product that I haven't really tried is the finishing powder but I will give that a try soon. I already have some samples of the mascara as well so I will be using this one later since I already have another one open. Other than that, I really like this set. I love how after I am done using all these products, I can continue using the "bag" that it comes in as a makeup bag.

QUESTIONS:
Did you get the chance to get your hands on the Tarte Carried Away 2012 Collection?
What do you think about this set?

NOTD: Milani "Fuchsia Fierce"

Hey everyone! Here is another NOTD post from yours truly! Hopefully I will keep this in my routine and keep posting up more nail polish swatches this year. I didn't do so good last year. LOL I must say that, I have been starting to wear nail polishes more and I am definitely loving it! I miss having color on my nails. Plus its nice to get compliments on the nail polish that I am wearing. I am sure you guys all know what I am talking about! I know you guys all get smiley face whenever someone tells you that they like your nails and asks you what polish you are wearing. Thats right!!

Okay enough with my rambling! For this NOTD, I am wearing Milani "Fuchsia Fierce". I think I bought this polish in November 2012 and probably have worn it twice but this is the first time where I actually took pictures of it. Even the name of this polish includes the word fuchsia, I think Fuchsia Fierce is more of a red. It does have some pink in it but from afar, it looks like a vibrant red. I actually think this is one of the most vibrant polishes that I have ever worn. Its definitely a great summer color! One coat is opaque but I always do two coats with my polishes.

QUESTIONS:
Do you have Fuchsia Fierce?
What do you think of Milani polishes?

Review (& Swatches): Revlon ColorStay 16HR Eye Shadow "505 Decadent"

Hey everyone! Its been such a long time since I did a review. I think I have been hauling way too much that I haven't had time to post up any reviews. This year, I will try to post up more reviews with swatches and less hauls. Of course, I still need to get some of my recent hauls posted up but I promised myself not to haul too much this year, unless needed. I have so much reviews on my computer that I need to organize and type up to post. The first review that I am going to post for 2013 is on the REVLON COLORSTAY 16HR EYE SHADOW "505 DECADENT". I had this quad for a while and have been wanting to review it so I thought that this would be the perfect time for it.

This comes in your typical black packaging. On the front is a clear window where you can see the shadows. I actually like the compact having a window because it allows you to see the color of the shadows. Its just a flip open compact that comes with a dual-ended sponge tip applicator. The compact is pretty small, fits into the palm of my hand.

Let me just say that I don't really like this quad. When I bought it, I thought that it was going to be a great neutral palette because of the colors but the shadows aren't that pigmented to begin with. I needed to swipe my brush into the shadows multiple times just to get some color to show up on my lids. I am definitely disappointed with this quad. I don't know if this is the same with all the Revlon ColorStay quads but if you have some, please let me know. I do have their old ColorStay quads and I really like them. The old shadows are so soft and pigmented, way better than the newer ones.

I definitely do not reccommend this quad and it is going into my regrets, which is sad because I actually like Revlon products but this one was just a fail for me. Hopefully I will be able to use it all up because I hate wasting product or find a new home for it. Definitely let me know if you have any of these Revlon ColorStay eyeshadows and whether you like them or not. I would love to know your thoughts on these.

(UPDATE: I have actually gone back to this palette and have been using it a lot during this month, May 2013 and have been liking it. I do have to pack on the color a lot for it to show up but other than that, I think with a great eyeshadow primer, you could make this quad work. It blends easily but you just have to watch out for fallout.)
